2006 Super Bowl XL Commercials Fast Review

Download and watch all the Super Bowl Commercials on google or ifilm.

Here’s my brief recap:

Best Humor Delivery

FedEx: Caveman
(yea, it’s a pun, deal with it) Cavemen, dinosaurs, animal cruelty and retribution. Good stuff.

Funny Runner-up

Ameriquest Mortgage Co: That Killed Him
Because joking about death is wrong, but killing a fly with a defibrillator is funny.

Most Bizarre

Burger King Whopperettes
I was disappointed that the creepy King was under-utilized, but once the pile-on started, I was sold.

Best Non-sequitur

McDonalds: Hamster
It didn’t sell me on the food, but I appreciated the randomness.

Most Effective

MotoPebl: Rock of Ages
Product advertised, now I want!

Sappiest

Budweiser: Clydesdale American Dream
But remains a staple entry each year.

Biggest Waste of Effort

Gillette Fusion: Secret Experiment
Enough with trying to revolutionize the razor. It’s not worth the big CG/sci-fi build up – it’s just a damn grooming tool.

Most Blah

AT&T
I don’t have the answer to how you improve your image, but I’m pretty sure this boring spot wasn’t it. SBC at least had a cooler logo.

Worst Campaign Idea

Diet Pepsi: P. Diddy’s New Star
“Brown and Bubbly” does not advertise something appealing. Yes, I remember it, but only in a bad way.

Disqualified

Television Series and Movie Trailers are disqualified for not creatively taking advantage of the time-slot. Lost is extra-disqualified for trying with a lame music video rip-off.
