Replacing my MacBook Pro

My computer needs to return to the mother-ship because I have a MacBook Pro with noise under the keyboard. Its left speaker also stopped speaking, so a replacement is likely in order. I expected some hassle from a first revision and I should be happy the replacement should have its kinks already worked out, but I’m still reluctant to start the process. It holds all my stuff!

Ideally, I show them the problem, they order a new one, and I show up later to make the swap and they synch what’s important. Hopefully the transition goes smoothly.

  1. So I didn’t go to the Apple store this weekend, but I did discover that at some point I must have adjusted the speaker balance to favor the right. What sounded like a blown left laptop speaker was actually the sound of my own stupidity.

Glad I found that before a technician had to show me.

  3. We have all done similiar… I am sure even the Apple “Expert” has his skeleton.

Personally, I will be waiting to purchase a MacBook until after it can dual-boot Ubuntu. Whilst MacOSX has it’s perks, I like bending the poor machine to my will.

I figure that means that the MacBook Pro will be on Generation XXVII by that time though.
