I am not dead

though it is not for lack of trying.

Late Monday night something evil took over my body with intentions of ruining me, and did not let go until after much discomfort and a doctor visit. I hate needles, but was happy to offer up each arm; a shot to reduce nausea, and I gave blood for some tests. Squeezing Kelly‘s hand with all available strength made it easier. She stayed home from work to keep me as comfortable as possible, to find a doctor and get me to the office, and to remind me to sip, not gulp my water. I would likely still be writhing in pain if it was not for her.

I have fortunately since regained control of my body. Last night I was able to sleep, and I am currently re-hydrating and restoring energy at home on the couch; Propel and Cheerios the meal of choice. When the Propel runs out, I’m switching to the daring combination of Sprite and Cranberry juice.

Thanks to all that have wished me well! I hope to walk among the living tomorrow once I have more energy.

Server Software Upgrade

So, this is post is brought to you by SnipSnap 0.5.1a.

I’m trying to migrate the sites here hosted on SnipSnap to a more current version to escape the maddness that has been its previous, outdated, buggy incarnation. Any instability, most notable at jimski‘s, has often been the result of power outtages which led to an unclean disconnect of the software to data. Corruption abound. Riveting, eh?

What this means for you? Hopefully, a more consistent viewing experience.

For all 5 of you.

Now I just need to get some style back in this site.

Making Tax Season Easy

The mailman delivered the last 1099 form I needed today, which means I’m also done filing our taxes this year.

“do a little dance!”

Let me endorse TurboTax Online. Armed with the requisite tax forms sent to me in the mail, I quickly transferred paper details, reviewed calculations, saved a backup pdf, and filed both state and federal forms electronically. Our return will be direct deposited, so I’m skipping that paper too.

I know people who still don’t have their W-2s. That sucks.

I’m Done.

Procrastination

When I’ve neglected posting for a while, say, a month, you might expect the thing to bring me back would be incredibly insightful or witty. You could imagine the entire time I was gone, time was spent planning and researching something amazing, and my silence would be broken with something that will be worth the time away.

You might not know me very well.

Sometimes there’s a point where you’ve procrastinated something long enough, starting again is overwhelming and intimidating. I can’t deal with that kind of pressure. Consider this a placeholder till the next post-procrastinated post.

Back to popping Bubble Wrap! (thanks Bryce)

Wonderful Days

From the press kit

Wonderful Days is the first movie to implement the unique system of multimation involving the mix of 2D cell animation, 3D CGI, and the Miniatures. Characters are in 2D to capture subtle expressions and mannerisms. Mechanics and backgrounds are in 3D to create a sense of speed and solidity. And the primary backgrounds and structures are filmed miniatures. Wonderful Days succeeds in creating an animation with a sense of realism and depth never before achieved. While movies such as Jurassic Park, Lord of the Rings, and Harry Potter have used a certain amount of multimation, Wonderful Days is the first movie not only in Korea but the world to use it on such an immense scale.

My Wonderful Days DVD just came. I’ll host a movie night for it soon.

Or Not. Turns out the (region free) region nonsense didn’t work out the way I thought, and I cannot currently play the DVD. (I suppose it’s for the best, Kelly’s not here right now, and she’d want to see it also.

Another edit… After becoming concerned that the DVD itself was bad since it failed in the XBOX and my laptop’s DVD player, I was going to get Trev involved to see if it ran on any of his setups. It occured to me that before I try that, I should throw it in the PS2 and see if it recognizes the DVD. Sure enough, it plays without problem.

OH MY GOD it’s pretty.
